VitaKey is a start-up founded out of the Langer Lab, MIT, developing and commercializing proprietary technology for controlled, targeted, and extended delivery of macronutrients, micronutrients, probiotics, biologics, small molecules, etc. to be included in everyday foods and beverages to improve human health.

We are developing our in-house AI/ML systems and models at our Durham NC HQ and are building a team to lead these efforts. As such, we are open to interviewing candidates with varying levels of education (BS or MS or PhD) and experience.

Role Summary

VitaKey Inc. is seeking a dedicated and highly innovative Computer Scientist/AI Engineer/Data Scientist with deep expertise in the development of AI models for scientific applications to serve as a Vitakey’s technical lead for AI modeling. You will be responsible for developing new biochemical AI models that will lead to the discovery of new ways to use natural ingredients to deliver transformative health and wellness outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Discover, evaluate and optimize models for biological outcomes and formulation performance, leveraging multi-omics, clinical, in vitro, and real-world data.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of VitaKey AI/ML systems to predict formulation compositions/characteristics/performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, data science, clinical, manufacturing) to translate AI-driven insights into scalable, commercial products.
  • Foster a culture of using AI to enhance and accelerate timelines, innovation, and commercialization within the company.

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Computational Biology, or related field.
  • Demonstrated AI expertise, specifically in novel applications of AI and development of new AI modeling approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or other data science languages.
  • Some background/understanding/interest in delivery systems, nutrients, biochemistry, bioengineering, etc.
  • Experience with biological and chemical AI/modeling.
  • Prior experience in start-up or fast-paced innovation environments
