Who We Are

United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF).
The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option.

You're a proactive and motivated Project Manager with proven experience successfully leading cross-functional project planning and tracking, and risk management. You are an excellent communicator who loves partnering with internal and external stakeholders to meet the needs of each unique project you are leading. You love a challenge and have never met a problem that you couldn't find a solution for. You are also extremely organized with an unmatched attention for detail. The Senior Project Manager plans, monitors, and manages internal and external projects from initiation through completion and participates in management of strategic programs. This role will:
- Lead project team, which may include internal cross-functional groups and external service providers, who are peers or senior level
- Successfully manage assigned projects through the entire project management life cycle, from initiation through execution and closure. Drive the project team, in evaluating, analyzing, planning, organizing and executing
- Oversee internal and external tasks for achieving project objectives and may serve as primary contact for project
- Concurrently manage multiple projects (3+ projects) and / or programs with multiple projects, that may be at various points of the project life cycle
- Present project information and updates within to a wide array of technical or non-technical audiences
- Ensure project schedules are defined prior to project initiation, including project charters, and defining key milestones, roles and responsibilities
- Oversee the schedule and budget for all projects being managed, including managing interdependencies of workstreams with overall plan baselines
- Communicate effectively and persuasively; influence internal and external team members and stakeholders
- Identify risks and issues and conduct follow-up on off-track/lagging projects and tasks. Develop strategies and action plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks. Escalate risk and issues as appropriate for timely resolution and mitigation
- Contribute to the implementation of tools, best practices, and technology for Corporate Program Management department. Support and advance Corporate Program Management departmental and Corporate Development & Alliance Management interdepartmental strategic objectives
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, such as science or engineering
- 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical / medical device / life sciences industry
- 5+ years of experience in project or program management
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI PMP or equivalent
- Experience working under pressure with tight timelines and is energized by a fast-paced work environment
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience in creating clear and compelling presentations and demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills - negotiation skills a plus
- Leadership and emotional intelligence skills
- Working knowledge of drug and / or medical device development and lifecycle management, with working knowledge of associated FDA and ICH Guidances
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of tools and project management collaboration tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, etc.)
- Ability to apply sound PMP principles and practices to assigned programs and projects
- Ability to create compelling solutions to resolve complex issues and build a business case to support the program or project
- Effective and persuasive communication with large internal and external groups
- Ability to travel up to 20%
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience managing 3rd party vendors, service providers and developing relationships with external partners
- Prior experience managing activities across multiple site / locations
- Prior experience working within a matrix organization
- Experience with budget and financial tracking of activities and developing contingency plans to work within constraints
- Understanding of issues of strategic importance and how these issues cascade through the business down to a detailed level
Location
This position will be located in the RTP, NC office of United Therapeutics. Currently this job is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office. In office requirements could increase based on business needs.
