Position Summary:

TARGAN Inc. is looking for a technician to assist with the creation and modification of electro-mechanical assemblies. The technician will be part of the R&D Engineering team, and work closely with engineering staff members including mechanical, electrical, controls, etc. This position will take directions from engineering team members but will be expected to work independently for periods of time. The technician should be able to assemble mechanical assemblies from drawings and be able to work with electrical systems.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble mechanical assemblies from a drawing set.
  • Work with hand tools to accomplish mechanical assembly.
  • Be able to follow safe working guidelines when working around machinery.
  • Use power tools as necessary to do simple metal cutting, grinding, etc.
  • Work with different materials such as metals and plastics.
  • Interact with 3D printers and other computer-driven devices to accomplish work.
  • Procure parts from R&D, production inventory, etc.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to modify drawings, rectify deviations, etc.
  • Wire electrical panels from a schematic diagram and mechanical layout drawing.
  • Be able to use safe electrical practices to apply power to electrical panels.
  • Basic troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Work closely with electrical and controls engineers to troubleshoot, modify, and improve electro-mechanical systems.
  • Interact with sensors such as detection, proximity, flow, and more.
  • Work with small-scale fluidics systems.
  • Work with standard pneumatic systems.
  • Help keep R&D areas and assets in an orderly condition.
  • Give feedback to engineers regarding potential assembly problems, errors, etc.
  • Assist with testing days including those with live animals present.
  • Be a key contributor as part of a team of engineers, technicians, and scientists.
  • Troubleshoot equipment including mechanical and electrical systems.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Ideal candidate has several years of experience in a production or R&D environment.
  • Computer skills, including but not limited to, the Microsoft Office Suite.
