The Procurement Supervisor plans, develops, and manages all activities related to the acquisition of raw materials and packaging components. This role focuses on creating an assurance of supply of materials while managing inventory targets. The Procurement Supervisor leads a purchasing team to buy the appropriate quantities of materials to be ready for production as required and manages the entire process from developing forecasts for suppliers to ordering and tracking deliveries through receipt and quality release. This position drives sustainable supply chain practices through effective supplier management, contract compliance, and materials procurement, focused on reducing costs, improving quality, and delivering optimal service for customers.
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Oversee day-to-day procurement activities, including purchase requisitions, order placements, and monitoring supplier performance.
- Monitor procurement budgets and ensure cost-saving initiatives are identified and implemented.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Update material attributes within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system so the material requirements planning (MRP) module functions effectively.
- Collaborate with internal departments to forecast procurement needs and align purchasing strategies with business goals.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
- Ensure accurate stock levels are maintained, avoiding overstocking or stockouts. Disposition obsolete, rejected, or expired inventory and work with internal departments to control inventory levels.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, including budget adherence, supplier performance, and procurement key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze data to improve purchasing strategies.
- Address and resolve any issues related to procurement, such as supplier delays, product quality concerns, or cost discrepancies.
| People Leader Responsibilities |
The Procurement Supervisor carries out people leader responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
- Provide task direction to team members.
- Provide on the job training (OJT) for new hires (Onboarding).
- Delegate tasks and set deadlines while providing feedback on those tasks.
- Listen to team members' feedback and resolve/report any issues or conflicts.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage individual performance.
- Recommend personnel actions (pay adjustments, promotions, transfers, terminations).
- Communicate personnel actions following Human Resources and Department Head approval.
| Required Qualifications |
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, or related field, or commensurate combination of education and work experience.
- 8 years’ professional manufacturing procurement and supply chain management experience, including experience conducting contract negotiations with suppliers.
- 2 years’ demonstrated leadership experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):
- Thorough understanding of procurement concepts, tools, metrics, and best practices.
- Expert skills with ERP systems (SAP, etc.) and Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication, negotiation, organization, leadership, and project management skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with internal staff and management.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with internal staff and management. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and trouble shooting skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Master’s degree in supply chain, business, operations, or related field.
- Relevant professional certification (APICS CPIM, CSCP).
- Prior management experience and/or training.
