General Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports continuous operations by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and executing repairs on both manufacturing and facility equipment within a medical device manufacturing environment in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.This role supports the installation, testing and validation of new equipment and maintains a necessary inventory of tools and parts to effectively perform duties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities and repair of production equipment in accordance with company policies, OEM specifications, OSHA and cGMP requirements.
· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to support manufacturing and minimize downtime
· Maintain organization, cleanliness and safety of assigned areas of responsibility
· Maintain the necessary spare parts inventory to perform PM’s and repairs on assigned equipment as scheduled
· Completes company required forms and paperwork neatly, accurately and on time.
· Assists Manufacturing Engineering with installations, relocations, testing and validation of production equipment and process improvement efforts
· Performs repairs and improvements to facility and related systems as needed
· Perform any additional duties as assigned by Management
· Flexibility in work schedule with ability to work overtime as necessary
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of experience in equipment maintenance within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotech)
- Ability to accurately and effectively use Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
- Ability to read, comprehend and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and schematics
- Electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair knowledge
- Reading, Writing and relevant Math skills required
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to walk, kneel, stand frequently or for long periods
- Ability to climb and work from ladders or lifts
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of a wide range of tools and their proper usage
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical/electrical technology/engineering
- Basic experience in skilled trades (Carpentry, plumbing, etc.)
Environment & Working Conditions
This position is generally performed indoors in a plant or office environment (but may require outside work as well) and requires specific physical requirements that must be met, including:
· Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment (regularly lifting up to 25 pounds)
· Standing for long periods of time
· Sitting as needed
· Climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Exposure to a combination of normal office type environments, along with activities in cleanrooms and throughout plant
· Regularly exposed to dust, odors, non-hazardous chemicals, fumes and noise
· Vision – both close and distant vision necessary
· Ability to use hands and fingers; reach with arms; feel parts and other items as needed for the position.
· Ability to work in adverse weather conditions as necessary for emergencies.
