About the role

The Area Production Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing operations within a designated production area of a consumer goods or pharmaceutical oral solid dose (OSD) manufacturing facility. This role ensures that production is executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory, quality, and cGMP standards. The manager is accountable for delivering daily performance goals related to output, quality, safety, and personnel development while driving continuous improvement across the area

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent adherence to HSE standards, conduct monthly BSOs with actionable feedback, and support audits with timely CAPA closure.
  • Escalate incidents immediately with thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions documented in SPIN.
  • Maintain full compliance with cGMP, FDA, and internal quality standards, overseeing batch documentation, deviation management, and audit readiness.
  • Drive “Right First Time” performance, ensure SOPs and OJTs are current, and approve departmental change controls through Trackwise.
  • Lead daily production operations across OSD/consumer goods while collaborating with Planning to meet monthly MPS targets.
  • Escalate schedule deviations and partner with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and optimize performance.
  • Monitor KPIs like OEE and yield, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of production line inefficiencies.
  • Manage department cost centers, track waste and performance, and drive budget forecasts through RCCP alignment.
  • Foster a high-performing team culture with structured onboarding, training, and development, including monthly one-on-one coaching.
  • Strategically manage staffing needs, support internal recognition programs, and drive cross-training for role continuity.
  • Champion lean practices including 5S and visual management, approve departmental projects and protocols, and contribute to new equipment specifications. Regularly review and update scorecards to track improvement initiatives.

The experience we're looking for

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Operations, or related field
  • 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, ideally in OSD pharmaceuticals or regulated consumer goods
  • Strong understanding of cGMPs, FDA regulations, production/packaging processes, and pharmaceutical document systems
  • Proven ability to lead in high-volume, regulated environments with focus on continuous improvement and customer orientation
  • Proficient in ERP (SAP preferred), production systems, batch records, deviation and quality systems management
  • Advanced knowledge of production execution and master data: BOMs, routings, order management, labeling, inventory control, and COGs
  • SAP super user with experience in Operations, work orders, routings, and integration with external systems (labelling, dispensing, MES)
  • Familiar with planning, warehousing, quality, and related production execution functions
  • Skilled in budgeting, planning, change management, and data-driven decision making
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) certification

Salary Range

USD $95,000.00 - $143,000.00

Hiring Range: 95,000 - 120,000K

Pay Transparency

The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
