Plakous Therapeutics is a human biologics company that has developed a patented, birth tissue derived, acellular platform biotherapeutic for the prevention of the rare pediatric disease Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). Plakous is currently manufacturing the required product lots for IND enabling studies and generation of clinical trial material.

Spring/Summer 2026 - Internship Project - Quality Documentation Writing for Human Placental Extract (HPE) Manufacturing

This internship will center around the documentation necessary for conducting different studies (ex. Quality, R&D, IND-enabling, etc). Additional experience and training will be provided on regulatory documentation (IND module drafting) and some hands on experience in the lab with characterization of the product and learning the skills needed for manufacturing and tech transfer.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Student (Junior or Senior Preferred)

Local to the Winston-Salem, NC Area

Science Background (Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, etc.)

Interest in Quality Assurance/Control, Product Development, & FDA Regulatory documentation

This program is funded through the North Carolina Biotechnology Center's Industrial Internship Program. IIP internships are designed to be spring/summer internships with specific dates/hours to be determined by company needs and candidate availability.
