NeuroGT, Inc. is a small start-up biotech company with the mission of developing gene therapy products for the treatment of devastating neurogenetic diseases. The NeuroGT laboratory is currently located in First Flight Venture Center, 2 Davis Drive, RTP, NC 27599.

We are looking for a research scientist to join the efforts in the research and development of rAAV gene replacement therapy towards treating diseases in humans. This lab-based position will be involved in molecular cloning, plasmid production, rAAV vector production, purification, and analytical QC procedures. Candidates are expected to have experience in biomedical research and broad technical skills in molecular biology and tissue cultures are desirable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Construction of rAAV gene therapy vectors for rare neurogenetic diseases.
• Perform scientific analyses using molecular biology and immunology techniques, including tissue cultures, molecular cloning, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qPCR, RT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA, EliSpot immunohistochemistry, and flowcytometry if needed.
• Understand and interpret experiments that contribute to project goals
• Keep procedures and protocols updated.
• Conduct troubleshooting analysis when needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory record/documentation.
• Take other responsibilities as needed.

Key requirement:

• B.S. in biochemistry, biology, neurobiology or related disciplines
• Passion and motivation in biomedical research in a small company environment
• Ability to work effectively in a research laboratory environment
• Excellent organizational, analytical and record-keeping skills
• Strong written and verbal communications
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues

DESIRED requirement:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, neurobiology or related disciplines
• Previous experience in biomedical research in academia or biotech environment
• Knowledge and experience in AAV gene therapy development
