A Brief Overview
The Engineering Intern will be utilized in process development for projects and work activities related to manufacturing of medical devices. This individual will be involved in all phases of product development as a contributor representing NPI. Completing work activities in Manufacturing, Process and R&D related tasks to ensure designs are manufacturable, evaluate potential suppliers components/work, and work with internal and external teams to support development of product and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Development and validation:
- Provide engineering support to both process / product development to drive efforts to design, develop, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes.
- Develop & define production control methods to monitor process output and establish critical supplier metrics.
- Define and coordinate the design and development of manufacturing fixturing and test equipment.
- Coordinate with R&D at suitable stages to optimize the design for manufacturing and reliability.
- Perform or direct DOE, correlation studies and apply statistical analysis for product and process improvements.
- Support manufacturing development and transfer of knowledge at contract manufacturers.
Minimum Requirements
- Working on getting a technical degree with hands-on experience associated to engineering
- Knowledge of Machine Shop fabrication 3D printing or 3D printer familiarity - rapid prototyping
Education
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering & SolidWorks CAD certified, or a closely related field.
Preferred Requirements:
- Pursuing a Masters degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering & SolidWorks CAD certified, or a closely related field.
