Labcorp is seeking a Scientist I – R&D Immunology & Flow Cytometry to join our team in Burlington, NC!
Job Responsibilities:
The Scientist I – R&D will support development and optimization of clinical flow cytometry assays for diagnostic applications.
Perform flow cytometry experiments, including sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and data analysis
Assist with development and validation of new assays, including immunodeficiency testing, and minimal residual disease (MRD) applications
Analyze experimental results, troubleshoot assay performance, and contribute to scientific decision-making
Develop and optimize multicolor flow cytometry panels and gating strategies
Support analytical validation activities, including precision, stability, method comparisons, and assay performance evaluations
Perform literature reviews and apply scientific knowledge to support assay development activities
Maintain accurate experimental documentation, protocols, and reports
Collaborate with scientists, clinical laboratory teams, and cross-functional partners
Present project updates and scientific findings to team members and leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Life Sciences Immunology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Hematology.
3 or more years of experience with flow cytometry, experimental design, assay optimization, or data analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
1 or more years of experience with clinical flow cytometry applications, including immunodeficiency, leukemia/lymphoma, or MRD testing
1 or more years of experience with multicolor flow cytometry panel design and optimization
1 or more years of experience with flow cytometry analysis software
1 or more years of experience with automation or laboratory workflow optimization
5 or more years of experience with assay development, validation, or translational research
Additional Job Standards:
Experience conducting independent laboratory research and interpreting experimental results
Strong understanding of immunology and cellular biology
Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and apply findings to laboratory projects
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project timelines
