As a Program Manager, you will lead an ongoing enterprise-wide initiative composed of multiple projects across the organization designed to improve efficiency and reduce costs. The Program Manager is accountable for keeping key stakeholders informed on the performance of identified projects against established goals as well as highlighting any issues impeding success. You will provide guidance and support across these projects and serve as a thought partner in identifying areas of opportunity for efficiency and/or savings projects. A successful candidate will possess the ability to work with teams across all areas of the company and at all organizational levels.
The Program Manager may also be called upon to manage projects within the initiative should there be a need. This would include accountability for planning, allocating resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle. You will coordinate with departments to ensure all aspects of the project are aligned with the strategy, commitments and goals of the organization. Successful Program Managers can strategically plan, perform risk management and change management. They also mentor peers in best practices and execution of projects.
Applicants who live within 35 miles of the Burlington, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at the Burlington, NC location, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.
Core Tasks:
Lead strategic program through coordination of multiple project management teams to deliver project goals that span across different functional areas of the business
Give detailed attention to program strategy, financial integrity, and program implementation.
Prepare and communicate program status and financial results to key stakeholders and executive leadership
Measure performance of the program to identify areas for improvement
Review and assess various courses of action to provide improved basis for management decisions
Primary Responsibilities:
Determine and define scope and objectives
Track project financials to meet budget stated project goals, including budget, savings and investments and ensure the prevention of double counting within the financial metrics across dissimilar initiatives
Predict resources needed to reach objective and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
Develop and manage detailed project schedule and work plan
Provide project updates on a consistent basis to key stakeholders about strategy, adjustments and progress
Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
Resolve conflicts between projects and align work down by other project managers and their teams.
Monitor progress and adjust as needed
Measure performance to identify areas for improvement.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Create presentations and reports to communicate project status.
Review and assess various courses of action to provide improved basis for management decisions
Navigate and influence priorities with project teams
Travel as needed to support project team (up to 20%)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Finance, Business, IT) or a non-relevant degree combined with equivalent work experience.

5 minimum years’ working experience in project management
Demonstrated ability to facilitate all areas of the PM lifecycle: scope/planning/execution/closure and mentor others through process
Proven ability to manage large integrated projects across multiple disciplines
Advanced skills with project management software tools, methodologies and best practices
Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline
Financial acumen and work experience at the controller / assistant controller level
History of executive communication development and delivery
Proven ability to solve problems creatively
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness
Excellent analytical skills
Exceptional time-management and organizational skills
Experience in strategic planning, risk management and or change management
Working knowledge and demonstrable history of template development in the Smartsheet software solution (primary tracking tool for associated initiatives)
Preferred Qualifications
CAPM, PMP or Green Belt
7+ years’ working experience in project management
Deep knowledge of Smartsheet software solution implementations, each with varied focus (financial, lab technical, construction, commercial, etc.)
