Senior Director – Global Sourcing & Procurement
This senior leadership position drives the global sourcing strategy and supplier management for the direct supply category across the enterprise. The scope includes contracting supplier partnerships for pre-analytical medical supplies, consumables, instrument platforms and reagents for each of our global locations.
Your role manages a global team of sourcing professionals and requires proven people-leadership capabilities, extensive experience in global sourcing, negotiation and procurement strategy, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate across enterprise functions to deliver best in class sourcing outcomes.
This role reports to the Executive Global Sourcing Director, as the strategic leader for this global category, your position sets the direction at the enterprise level and develops proposals that shape long-term business strategy to ensure supply chain continuity.

Working Conditions:
Hybrid – Full time, regular.
- Typically, Monday-Friday 8a-5p. Alternate and additional hours, including across time zones, evening, nights, and weekends are occasionally required.
- This hybrid role is central North Carolina-based with three days per week on-site in Burlington, NC.
- The remainder of the schedule is remote
- Travel is 10% to other sites and supplier facilities. Laboratory environments, in areas that contain biologic and chemical hazards (with use of personal protective equipment), are occasionally required.
- Oversees a global team of 10 – 12 sourcing professionals.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Leading a global Sourcing and Procurement team to:
- Deliver high value supply chain solutions to the business and category strategies, support vendor selection, vendor development, technology management and performance measurement activities.
- Ensure the best-in-class secure global supply chain for products in the to realize year-on-year productivity improvements, cost savings, and process improvements in close collaboration with the stakeholders and global compliance within the business.
- Develop clear and concise leadership proposals for strategic business decisions, including RFP (Requests for Proposal) while detailing the benefits and risks by Supplier.
- Leading negotiations and strategy for the assigned category to support a significant annualized spend.
- Vendor first-point-of-contact and governance oversight
- Manage the stakeholder/customer and vendor engagement interaction.
- Accountable for development and implementation of the individual category strategy in alignment with business needs.
- Directs the development and execution of robust category strategies that meet the needs of multiple cross divisional stakeholders as well as drives exceptional value for LabCorp and the various subsidiaries.
- Oversee strategic supplier relationship management for Top suppliers, organization and execution of regular Business Review Meetings and drive execution of action items.
- Oversee the establishment and maintenance of relationships with global strategic vendors, ensuring continuous improvement, spend/cost transparency and cross-category account management with Top suppliers.
- Proactively supports the business in assessing new innovative/technology-driven vendors through RFP, networking, cold-calls, conferences, etc., while maintaining alignment with Science and Technology.
- Serves as a Primary Business Partner with one or more assigned line functions representing Sourcing on stakeholder Leadership teams, strategic business reviews and budget planning/forecasting.
- Accountable for segmentation of the supplier base and approval of new vendors within the segment.
- Oversee and may negotiate and finalize Master Service Agreements.
- With the appropriate business and finance teams:
- Accountable for productivity and savings planning as well as ensuring the stakeholder/Sourcing participation in the annual budgeting planning for the category.
- Accountable for the overall delivery of the category savings targets for all Divisions following the target setting process.
- Accountable for compliance with all the applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines in accordance with the applicable law.
- Leads Supplier quality discussions in alignment with Labcorp QA/Science & Technology and/or stakeholder for assigned category, while obtaining an appropriate Supplier corrective action/preventative action (CAPA).
- Assuring contract compliance of active contracts for assigned category.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain or business field
- Advanced industry knowledge of a global life science company
- Demonstrated communication and technical retention skills
- Ability to proactively manage and inspire teams and stakeholders
- Strong working relationship with internal Labcorp management and global leadership
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new category/product recommendations
- 10+ years of experience in Sourcing, preferably for direct supply products with demonstrated Procurement and Sourcing capabilities.
- Working understanding of fundamental quality and global regulatory compliance aspects.
- Track record of excellent cross-functional negotiating skills required.
- Experience in developing and managing a Supplier Relationship Management program, which brought significant savings and other advantages to the organization.
- Experience in Risk Management, Strategic Sourcing processes and contract negotiation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain or business field
- Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) credentials.
- 8+ Years of supply chain, supply chain operations, healthcare and/or life sciences experience, including 3 years of experience in an upper-strategic global leadership role, leading and managing cross-functional teams.
- 3+ Years of deep experience and relationships in the functional area of this role, to include specific operational expertise, contract negotiation and financial knowledge.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong executive presence to lead complex and time sensitive initiatives
- Demonstrates proficiency in several of the following areas: strategy and planning, supply chain management, laboratory operations, logistics, patient service centers, financial planning, capital projects, and global staff management.
- Proficiency with supply chain operations principles, terminology, and regulations, as well as working knowledge on finance principles and methodologies
- Proven ability to continuously improve supply chain performance and consistently meet or exceed KPI targets for service, cost, and quality.
- Experience conceiving, creating, and delivering business presentations to senior management.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills; strong organizational skills with a focus on details and strong analytical skills; demonstrated track record to lead, motivate and develop team’s skills is required.
- High degree of emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, strong listening and contract negotiation skills with written/verbal communication abilities. Effective in working with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Strong business acumen with commercial and scientific mindset
- Ability to build trustful relationships and to work collaboratively across multiple functions and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing and collaborating with cross-functional partners and leaders
- Advanced understanding of industry standards/techniques, regulatory requirements, and functional area applications.
- Lead change and comfortable handling risk and ambiguity.
- Strong business acumen, with analytical / problem solving skills with strong negotiation skills and the ability to identify impact, opportunity for cost savings, risks and action to ensure a secure global supply chain.
- Fostering a team culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement, with line-of-sight to patient care.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with experience presenting and preparing materials for presentations, workshops, focus groups and executive meetings.
