Position Summary:
As essential personnel, under the supervision of Facilities Director, this role will support day-to-day departmental operation including general maintenance of buildings, premises, grounds, security systems and general utilities at the KBI BioPharma site at Hamlin Road, Durham, NC. This position will work independently as well as manage third party vendors and coordinates with internal teams, to meet compliance and safety requirements of site.
Position Responsibilities:
- Facilities supervisor oversees and coordinates day to day departmental activities to ensure buildings, premises and grounds are in good state of repair to support sites’ operation.
- Manage services provided by third-party vendors, including but not limited to, general building maintenance, walls, doors, ceiling, roof, floor, doors and windows maintenance, pest control, general housekeeping, landscaping, snow removal, office setup requests, and events management.
- Responsible for the overall operation of sites’ security systems including card access controls and CCTV through software, and hardware, activating and modifying badges access to designated areas and managing /reviewing camera footage.
- Manage work order requests and ensures completion within established timelines in accordance with SOPs and Good documenting practices using a computerized maintenance management system. Review/approval of physical logbooks as routine. Establish and sustain routine inspection schedules for Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing areas for inspection ready at all the time.
- Co-ordinate with internal maintenance teams to support general maintenance related to facility buildings, premises and utilities equipment as required.
- Perform departmental activities related to quality systems such as SOP revisions, change control, deviations, risk analysis, root cause analysis, CAPA and other activities using quality management software. .
- Ensure a safe work environment, practices and standards at all times. Respond to emergency calls afterhours and over weekends as needed to support business requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge / Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferably including hands-on or vocational school training, and a minimum of Seven (7) years of experience as a general maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, or A.S./A.A. Degree in Mechanical/Utilities/ Information Technology, or Licensed Journeyman.
Language Ability:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.

- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees and/or clients.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Math Ability:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
Physical Requirements:
- The physical requirements of the position include standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, use of vision (including discerning colors), talking, and hearing. Frequently, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing ladders/stairs (including vertical ladders to rooftops), and crawling apply.
- The position requires the use of PPE including fall protection, confined space, and electrical safety.
- The position requires reading documents, working on a computer with keyboard and mouse, discerning colors, discerning the feel of textures, manipulating small dosage units, and using a magnifying glass. Work is performed both in an office and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear safety shoes, eye protection, and using respirators are required.
Computer / Equipment Usage:
- Knowledge and previous experience using Outlook, MS Teams , MS offices (Word, Excel, Power Point), is required.
- Knowledge and previous experience using computer applications such as CCTV and Card access control system for daily activities is required
- Knowledge and previous experience using manual and power tools for general maintenance is required.
- Knowledge and previous experience using a computer, a telephone, a copy machine, and a fax machine is required.
Salary Range: $ 84,000.00 / yr. to $115,500.00 / yr.
