Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician demonstrates Service with Knowledge® by ensuring the reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and building systems. This role is critical to minimizing production downtime and supporting operational efficiency while upholding quality and safety standards. Through proactive communication and effective collaboration with production teams and fellow maintenance staff, the technician identifies root causes of issues, recommends process improvements, and maintains accurate records.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts repairs and preventive maintenance on machinery and mechanical systems including but not limited to engines, motors, conveyors, and production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision testing instruments.
- Ensures production downtime is minimized through effective troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of machinery. Collaborates with production staff to solve maintenance issues.
- Identifies downtime causes and finds solutions to prevent reoccurrence, recommends possible process improvements that will increase efficiencies and production quality.
- Performs building and equipment maintenance, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems including but not limited to installing circuits, wiring, and related components; ensures proper testing and repair of electrical systems.
- Completes weekly preventative maintenance assignments while prioritizing workload. Executes all check points and notifies supervisor if any deviations were deemed appropriate.
- Actively communicates with other maintenance staff passing down relevant information to ensure smooth workflow.
- Tracks, maintains and performs preventative maintenance of process, assembly and testing equipment. Maintains accurate and up to date records of equipment, materials used and time required. During this process makes minor repairs to tools and equipment as needed and notify proper personnel of required major maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA standards and company safety procedures; maintains clean, organized work areas using 5S principles.
- Becomes and remains proficient in skills required to keep plant equipment and building in good working order including lubrication, plumbing, electrical (high voltage 480 3 phase), fabrication, hydraulics, welding and carpentry.
Other Duties
- Assists in the design, installation and update of new or modification existing equipment.
- Conducts technical or research work as needed.
- Performs other Maintenance Technician duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience or equivalent education in mechanical, electrical, or automation in an industrial manufacturing setting required.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) required
- Experience in food and drug safety standards preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Required
- Knowledge of industrial electricity including 480V 3‑phase, circuits, wiring methods, motor controls, fuses/breakers, and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
- Advanced knowledge of tools instrumentation, and test equipment for maintenance equipment
- Knowledge of motors, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, and other industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, machining, plumbing and fabrication.
- Knowledge of PM best practices and maintenance planning.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Skilled in identifying maintenance related downtime causes and recommending improvements.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution, and people skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to prioritize work based on risk to production impact.
- Ability to multi-task and work in an organized manner

Physical Requirements
This role involves physical activity typical of a maintenance environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. Modified “light duty” assignments may be available for job-related injuries or illnesses, based on operational needs.
While performing job duties, operators may be required to:
- Walk, stand, stoop, bend, or sit for extended periods.
- Use hands for writing and keyboarding along with performing maintenance and making repairs.
- Perform tasks in confined spaces and around moving machinery.
- Lift parts, tools, equipment up to 35 pounds.
- Hand grip up to 20 pounds.
- Lift, carry, and push over 100 pounds in a team.
- Use hand and power tools, forklifts, and scissor lifts, requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Sensory Requirements
- Visual acuity, including depth perception and the ability to maintain focus, read a computer screen, paper documents, perform maintenance and repairs, read gauges/instruments, distinguish wire colors, and hear alarms.
- Hearing ability for effective communication in person and by radio.
Working Conditions
- This position typically functions in a manufacturing and warehouse setting with some exterior building and grounds related work.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures depending on the season and location within the facility.
- Requires standing, walking, and moving around facility to complete maintenance tasks throughout the shift.
- Frequent interaction with moving machinery, electrical systems (480V), and hydraulic equipment.
- May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, and around energized equipment under strict safety protocols.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
- There will be exposure to various cleaning chemicals, equipment lubricants, and wet and dusty conditions in the plant.
Work Schedule
- Full time, non-Exempt position
- Standard hours are Monday to Friday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Additional hours may be required to based on business needs and on call support.
