WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The EHS Specialist is responsible for aiding in developing, maintaining, and administering the programs and procedures related to the health, safety, and environment of the Raleigh CMDS Plant. The EHS Specialist will support plant EHS programs, including meeting regulatory requirements and corporate expectations. The EHS Specialist will also focus on tactical issues and day-to-day plant needs.
YOUR ROLE
- Develop, maintain, and administer environmental, health and safety programs as needed.
- Support applicable Corporate, Plant, and regulatory reports and requirements as needed.
- Provide assistance as an internal resource to Plant departments on EHS issues as needed.
- Participate in Plant audits and equipment evaluations for EHS compliance.
- Provide training assistance to communicate and ensure compliance with Plant EHS programs and policies.
- Inspect and review plant operations to recommend corrective actions where safety, health, and environmental hazards and risks exist.
- Actively participates and provides oversight to the plant’s emergency response teams.
- Create, review, and update standard operating procedures related to EHS.
Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions:
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.
- Notify management of unsafe conditions and practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.
- Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
YOUR BACKGROUND
- BS degree in physical or biological science or engineering.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental science.
- Possess working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
- Knowledge of current GMPs and experience working in a manufacturing environment are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasion lifting of less than 45 pounds may be required for moving/carrying monitoring instruments.
- Extended periods of standing and/or sitting may be required.
Cognitive Requirements:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Competency in use of Windows-based computer programs.
