Shipping and Receiving Clerk M/F (29511)

Summary of the position:
This position will be capable of performing all shipping & receiving functions including proper receipt and handling of all materials and items entering the shipping and receiving sectors of the facility essential to plant operations to include returned goods for dispositioning. This is a day shift position - 7:30am-4:00pm.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and verifies item counts against freight bills, bills of lading, inter-branch, and packing forwarders and samples shipping orders of materials to be shipped.
  • Communicates to freight forwarders and dispatchers to facilitate proper and timely distribution of materials
  • Separates, identifies, and receives materials against purchase and credit orders and enters purchase materials receipts via computer data entry/bar code systems for inventory control.
  • Moves, transfers, and distributes materials to facilitate plant operations or customer support according to standard operating procedures. Uses computer via the inventory bar code system program to move and/or transfer inventory by data entry of item, lot, quantity, and location destinations inventoried materials.
  • Receipt of customer and warehouse returns
  • Conducts routine, periodic cycle counts and accurately records amounts.
  • Participate in cycle counts and reconciliation of the count based on the direction of the supervisor and financial analyst.
  • May train team members on use of team equipment and processes.
  • Records inventory transactions in the current ERP system.
  • Prepares all shipping document for goods leaving the facility.
  • Prints shop orders for warehouse associates daily work assignments
  • Performs miscellaneous warehousing functions including housekeeping and providing support to the M&D Team, other plant teams, and customers.
  • Train new hires and existing team members on departmental procedures, systems, and best practices.

Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions:

  • Works safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notifies management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Reports all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

Education, Experience, and/or Skill:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • 2 - 4 years in manufacturing warehouse environment experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, good warehouse procedures including lot, location control, and FIFO principles.
  • MS Office proficient and knowledge of various inventory control software (i.e., ERP).cation, SAP knowledge is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical requirements that are needed to complete essential job duties. To be ADA-compliant, statements must be written in terms of the required outcome, not the way the duty is performed.

Cognitive Requirements:

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Basic writing skills required.
  • Mental and visual acuity for production of and identification of quality product.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize and identify commonly used industrial parts and equipment.
  • Must be able to positively contribute to a team-based environment.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate problems/discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.


Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift and manipulate parts/boxes up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladder to access inventory parts in bins greater than six feet but less than nine feet from floor level.
  • Warehouse environment – climate controlled.
  • Varying levels of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn upon entry to the warehouse and other areas of the plant.


Organizational Relationship/Scope:

  • Report to Area Supervisor/Manager.
  • Interfaces with all areas of the plant and all levels of management.
  • Has frequent contact and interaction with outside vendors and customers.
