Gradient Medical, based in Raleigh, is an early stage medical device startup that is spun out of NCSU. We are focused on developing next generation pulsed electric field technologies to address gaps in the treatment of solid tumors. Gradient is developing a minimally invasive alternative to tumor resection, chemo and other ablative technologies that is capable of locally targeting tumor cells.
The internship position will be responsible for assisting in the design, building and testing of INSPIRE bronchoscopy applicators that will be used in-clinic for treating veterinary patients with lung lesions. They will also be responsible for general R&D activities - analyzing data, conducting experiments, documentation, cell culturing, prototyping, etc. They will be expected to assist on any miscellaneous tasks day to day as priorities change.
The preferred candidate will have experience with prototyping, machining and CAD (solidworks experience would be ideal). Ideally would either have a completed engineering degree or entering the final year of their studies. They will be a self-starter and be proactive in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment. Able to collaborate and communicate efficiently with co-workers and have the ability to shift focuses from project to project.
This program is funded through the North Carolina Biotechnology Center's Industrial Internship Program. IIP internships are designed to be spring/summer internships with specific dates/hours to be determined by company needs and candidate availability.
