Lab Technician

Galaxy Diagnostics is seeking a temporary Molecular Laboratory Technician to support ongoing laboratory operations and specimen processing activities over a 3–4 week period starting in January 2026. The successful candidate will assist with routine molecular laboratory procedures including specimen aliquoting, pipetting, and sample tracking in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) environment. This position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with biological materials, and adherence to established safety and quality protocols. This full-time, temporary, and hourly position will be based in our Research Triangle Park headquarters and report to the Lab Technical Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate pipetting and aliquoting of biospecimens (e.g., serum, plasma, urine, or other biological materials)
• Handle and process clinical samples following BSL-2 biosafety procedures
• Maintain accurate and complete specimen logs, worksheets, and electronic records
• Assist with general laboratory upkeep including reagent preparation, equipment cleaning, and inventory tracking
• Follow all institutional, safety, and regulatory policies (e.g., CLIA, OSHA, and biosafety requirements)
• Work collaboratively with laboratory staff to meet project deadlines

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
• Demonstrated proficiency with standard laboratory pipetting techniques
• Experience working in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory setting
• Ability to follow detailed protocols with precision and maintain organized documentation Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a CLIA-certified high-complexity laboratory
• Familiarity with molecular biology workflows (e.g., nucleic acid extraction, PCR setup, etc.)
• Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and specimen tracking tools

Work Environment:

• Laboratory-based role within a BSL-2 environment
• Day-shift hours, Monday through Friday
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all biosafety policies
• Involves routine handling of human biospecimens
