Description

Summary

The Maintenance Technician I works independently and alongside plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks. This role is responsible for troubleshooting issues, repairing production and facility equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks must be completed in alignment with company policies, goals, and objectives.

The individual may be required to provide leadership support in the absence of the Maintenance Manager. These duties may include coordinating, scheduling, and assigning work projects; communicating priorities; and providing direction and guidance to ensure continued workflow and departmental communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the work performed. Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of pumps, valves, motors, and related control devices.
  • Repair or replace control components such as switches, proximity sensors, motor starters, and relays.
  • Repair or replace plumbing fixtures and related components.
  • Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments as required by preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Set up and operate drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other metalworking equipment.
  • Perform fabrication and modification of new and existing equipment.
  • Conduct welding, mill work and basic lathe operations.
  • Maintain assigned areas under the preventative maintenance program.
  • Read and interpret documents, schematics, ladder logic, HMI controls and technical drawings.
  • Always comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade education preferred.
  • 5 years Industrial Maintenance experience required.
  • 8 years’ experience in one or more trades preferred (Plumbing, Electrical, Fabrication, HVAC, Welding, Construction).
  • 8-year Mechanical Background required.
  • This position follows a 4x10 schedule, working Tuesday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Vision requirements include the ability to read printed materials and view a computer screen. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The position also requires the ability to climb ladders and work at elevated or otherwise precarious heights.
