ForagR Medicines deploys a platform technology that solves the current challenges in the high-impact field of RNA-targeted medicines. Notably, ForagR Medicines leverages the transformative power of in-cell RNA genomics to target undruggable proteins via their mRNAs. Target and hit compound identification, hit-to-lead, and lead-op are performed in cells.
This internship focuses on a novel RNA-targeted drug discovery approach that combines in-cell small-molecule screening with next-generation sequencing. The goal is to enable the development of innovative RNA-targeted medicines for diseases with significant unmet medical need. As part of a multidisciplinary research team, the intern will support chemical genomics experiments to evaluate mRNA targets and perform biochemical testing of candidate small molecules.
Candidates should have prior experience in a research laboratory and the ability to work independently while thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative biotech environment. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are essential, with the ability to clearly communicate scientific findings. Hands-on experience in general biochemistry and cell and molecular biology techniques is required. The ideal intern brings a strong team-oriented mindset, reliability, and a proactive, can-do attitude, with a genuine interest in contributing to industry-driven drug discovery efforts.
This program is funded through the North Carolina Biotechnology Center's Industrial Internship Program. IIP internships are designed to be spring/summer internships with specific dates/hours to be determined by company needs and candidate availability.
