Position Purpose
The Raw Material Receiving Technician is responsible for the accurate and efficient unloading, inspection, and documentation of all inbound raw materials used in production at Farmina Pet Foods. This position ensures that only safe, high-quality ingredients and packaging materials enter the facility by verifying compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. By maintaining accuracy in receiving and inventory records, this role directly supports food safety, production efficiency, and the consistent delivery of premium pet food products.
Requirements
- Must be willing to work mandatory overtime, weekends and different shifts as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous experience in raw material receiving, warehouse, or food manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF, or similar).
- Basic computer and data entry skills; experience with ERP/inventory systems a plus.
- Forklift certification and experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in various environments (cold, hot, dry, or humid).
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload inbound raw materials, ingredients, and packaging supplies in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
- Inspect shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications and food safety requirements.
- Verify documentation including bills of lading, certificates of analysis, and purchase orders.
- Accurately enter data into inventory management systems and maintain receiving logs.
- Properly label, store, and stage materials in designated warehouse or production areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Report discrepancies, damage, or quality concerns to supervisors and Quality Assurance.
- Work with production and scheduling teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
- Follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety protocols, and OSHA workplace safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving docks and storage areas.
