Position Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and overseeing maintenance schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring efficient execution of maintenance activities to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability. This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills to align maintenance operations with production requirements and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Planning and Scheduling:
    1. Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
    2. Create detailed maintenance work orders, including task lists, required materials, labor hours, and safety protocols.
    3. Schedule maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production operations.
    4. Prioritize work orders based on criticality and resource availability.
  • Resource Management:
    1. Coordinate with maintenance technicians, contractors, and suppliers to ensure necessary resources are available.
    2. Maintain inventory levels of spare parts and materials, ensuring timely procurement.
    3. Track equipment maintenance history and update records regularly.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, asset history, and inspection reports.
    2. Generate reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    3. Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Collaboration:
    1. Work closely with the production team to plan maintenance activities around operational schedules.
    2. Collaborate with the procurement team to manage vendor relationships and optimize supply chain efficiency.
    3. Communicate effectively with maintenance staff and leadership to ensure alignment on priorities and schedules.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    1. Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and reduce costs.
    2. Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
    3. Support the implementation of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices
  • Office-based with visits to the production floor as needed.
  • May require flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings, depending on maintenance schedules.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or a related role preferred.
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, safety regulations, and equipment reliability.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing spare parts inventory.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, infrared thermography).
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders as required.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s degree in engineering, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred).
  • Certification in Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (e.g., CMRP or similar).
