Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the staff and activities of the Human Resources department of Cotton Incorporated, a 150-employee global organization. Responsibilities include directing employee selection and retention strategies, organizational development, employee relations, succession planning, training and development, coaching, performance management, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures, compliance, and internal employee communications. Core Functions:
• Lead and manage a Human Resources team of three to deliver high-quality services across all HR functions
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent
• Serve as a business partner to department and division leaders in their efforts to drive business results towards defined company objectives
• Oversee compliance with federal and state employment laws, safety regulations, and mandatory postings (EEO-1, OSHA, etc.)
• Direct and manage the annual performance review program including creation, design, delivery, training, and follow through
• Administer the annual benefits review process from evaluation of existing and potential offerings to open enrollment implementation and management of required government filings
• Administer and evaluate the compensation program annually and manage mid-year changes
• Develop and maintain business relationships with staff through effective communication and follow-up
• Provide counseling for managers regarding a variety of HR topics including conflict resolution, performance management, team building, and organizational development and succession planning
• Provide training and development services and coaching to management and staff
• Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions; engage outside employment law counsel as needed
• Plan and design employee communication programs and events and ensure successful implementation
• Participate in the development and implementation of organizational change initiatives
• Oversee the development and implementation of human resource policies and procedures
• Keep current on legal developments impacting HR and update internal policies and procedures accordingly
• Oversee the implementation and utilization of the Company’s HRIS system to maintain employee data and track changes
• Contribute to the maintenance of electronic and physical HR record-keeping processes
• Contribute to new human resources projects and initiatives
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or similar field; concentration in Human Resources and master’s degree preferred
• Professional HR certification preferred
• 10+ years of related work experience in Human Resources
• 5+ years supervisory or leadership experience
• Extensive HR knowledge across multiple disciplines including but not limited to: recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, performance management, coaching, HRIS administration, and employee relations
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations impacting employee relations
• Knowledge of human resource information systems (HRIS) platforms, preferably ADP Workforce Now
• Ability to maintain confidential data in oral and written communication as well as electronic format
• Ability to interpret and apply employment laws, rules, and regulations relative to work
• Ability to define problems, critically analyze issues/data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and make decisions
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly amidst frequent interruptions
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and professional enthusiasm, with a customer service focus
• Ability to interact with various audiences via e-mail, in-person, and over the telephone
• Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and initiative
• Strict attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Ability to effectively manage and motivate a small team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office™ Suite with advance skills in Excel
• Proficiency with desktop publishing software or Adobe Creative Suite, a plus
• This position requires domestic and international travel 5% of the time
Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
• General office environment with quiet to moderate noise level
• Varied working conditions off-site due to travel
• Business casual dress clothes required
• Regularly required to sit and use hands to type and grasp, with frequent standing, walking, and bending/twisting at the neck/waist
• Occasionally required to push, pull, and reach above/below shoulder level
• Frequently required to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds
• Frequently required to have face-to-face and telephone interaction with internal staff and external contacts
