Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope and Process:


Corning is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to serve as a Maintenance Lead Trainer. This role is responsible for overseeing and delivering training programs for maintenance personnel, ensuring the development of technical skills, and fostering continuous improvement in maintenance practices. The Maintenance Training Specialist will work closely with supervisors, department leads, and other stakeholders to build and maintain a comprehensive training program that supports the growth and success of the maintenance team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all training needs related to maintenance personnel.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and coordinators to identify and implement additional training opportunities that enhance the skills of maintenance personnel.
  • Deliver New Employee Orientation (NEO) training and guide new technicians through the Maintenance Training Lab.
  • Work with department leads to continue building and improving the Maintenance Training Lab.
  • Partner with the maintenance supervisor to develop innovative approaches to the training program.
  • Maintain a comprehensive registrar of all required trainings for maintenance personnel and track the completion progress of each technician.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, leads, and On-the-Job Trainers (OJTs) to ensure new maintenance personnel are progressing toward certification in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to breakdown maintenance documentation.
  • Act as the ADC (Document Controller) for all breakdown maintenance records.
  • Work with engineering and project teams to create troubleshooting documentation to support maintenance and repair activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, including those with engineering and operations, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain regular interaction with night shift personnel to ensure training needs are met and support is provided.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance technician role required.
  • Thorough understanding of machine functions and equipment processes.
  • Proficiency in the use of multi-meters, ohm meters, flow meters, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Skilled in the use of small hand tools and power tools.

The range for this position is ​$34.00 hourly rate - $38.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
