Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of Position: A member of the tandem qualification team to ensure ops readiness when the line is qualified and returned to the plant production team. Function as a plant resource on the qualification team to identify and resolve gaps in documentation, tools, training, and equipment performance prior to production ramp.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist qualification team with line operation and coordination of samples
- Work with the plant to have 5S principles prior to ramp
- Ensure tools, carts, support equipment are in place and adequate prior to line ramp
- Work with lead trainers to ensure documents are updated and in place for tandem operation
- Identify and ensure appropriate visual work aids are on the production line prior to ramp
- Identify any equipment issues during qualification that would prevent the line from ramping to production; Work with qualification and plant teams to resolve
- Identify any safety concerns during qualification activities
- Work with shift teams and plant production / training teams to ensure operators are appropriately trained
- Work with plant production team to implement SMED principals as lines ramp to production
- Escalate recurring issues (Quality, equipment, etc.) to appropriate qualification team or plant resources
- Ensure documentation is updated with learnings from the qualification work
- Attend all mandatory meetings required by qualification team Work Hours & Expectations
- Typical work schedule is 40 hours Monday through Friday, dayshift
- Work may require limited overtime and support on each shift; Work schedules will be jointly agreed upon by the employee and Department manager
- Work will be at NCP, TCP1 and TCP2 to support ribbon line conversions
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
- 1+ years ribbon operator experience
- Prefer experience with rigid, PYM, and tandem line operation
- Must not be in progressive discipline process; Dependability as reflected in attendance records Required Skills
- Strong commitment to enhancing safety culture
- Knowledge of ribbon line operation; Certified and experienced Manufacturing Associate
- Able to work within a team environment and collaborate across organizational boundaries to organize activities.
- Results oriented, understand urgency of deadlines, and follow tasks to completion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective in managing multiple priorities / tasks and managing time effectively
- Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and good planning / organization skills

The range for this position is $21.50 hourly rate - $26.25 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
