Continuity Biosciences is advancing combination therapies through next-generation drug delivery technologies that go beyond conventional methods. The Continuity Biosciences technology portfolio ranges from nanofluidic systems for drug delivery to cell storage systems that enable donor/stem cell transplantation and immune modulation. We aim to de-risk and operationalize targeted technology platforms that will enable the ideal product presentation for novel therapies. Continuity Biosciences is looking for a Scientist II to support our product development team. Based in Cary, North Carolina, this role will have the main responsibility of performing IND-enabling nonclinical studies to assist the development of local drug delivery products. The Scientist II role provides the opportunity to develop drug delivery devices for the clinic to help patients in need. We are looking for a collaborative and highly motivated scientist to join our team. Working in a fast-paced startup environment, the Product Development Scientist II is flexible and a self-starter that can react quickly to problem solve in high stakes situations during the development process.
What Will the Scientist II Do:
Reporting to the Principal Scientist of Product Development, the Scientist II will support the development team through a variety of responsibilities such as supporting and conducting in vitro and in vivo IND-enabling nonclinical studies, performing benchtop drug delivery testing with devices, and collaborating with external vendors/partners. In vitro work will include mammalian cell culture work, hydrogel bioprinting, and cell assay work. Experience in RNA/protein extraction, RNA/protein electrophoresis, qPCR, western blotting, and HPLC techniques is a bonus. This individual will ideally have 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory, preferably GLP, and experience in product development.
Key Responsibilities will Be:
· Conduct independent experimental work to meet objectives of development projects
· Assist in the identification and management of external partners and collaborators
· Design and execute in vitro studies with mammalian cells using sterile techniques
· Lead the development of disease models and bioassays for development work
· Write and support technical documents including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols, technical reports, patents, and scientific publications
· Work with engineering teams for device prototyping and testing strategies
· Maintain laboratory equipment, facility, and inventory of supplies and reagents
· Follow safety procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP)
What are the Requirements:
· Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in biological or biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, or related scientific field
· 2+ years of industry experience, preferably in product development
· Demonstrated experience with product development, drug delivery, devices, assay development, and standard laboratory techniques
· Proficient in MS Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
· Must be well-organized, detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
