Catalent's Greenville, N.C. facility specializes in end-to-end turn-key solutions for oral solid dosage forms, including integrated formulation development, analytical services, commercial manufacturing, and packaging. This state-of-the-art facility has had over $100M of investments in recent years and features fit-for-scale capacity with potent handling capabilities, ideal for orphan or targeted drug development.
The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist plays a key role in promoting a safe and compliant workplace by ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, corporate, and site-specific regulations. This position supports the EH&S team in fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence, helping to create an environment where employees, contractors, and visitors can work confidently and securely. The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist contributes to maintaining high standards of integrity, efficiency, and enthusiasm across site operations, with a continuous focus on improving safety practices and outcomes.
Shifts: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
This position is 100% on-site at the Greenville site.

The Role
Lead and Support EH&S Programs, oversee vendor safety, new hire orientation, job site audits, and ensure regulatory compliance across environmental, health, and safety domains.
Ensure adherence to EPA, state, and county regulations; manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs including RCRA, pharmaceutical, and universal waste.
Deliver and maintain regulatory and site-specific training (DOT, RCRA, OSHA) via LMS; coordinate safety-related training and maintain the Hazard Communication program including SDS management.
Conduct routine inspections (CAAs, emergency equipment, stormwater systems), safety assessments (FMEA, JSA, PPE), and support ergonomic and industrial hygiene initiatives.
Coordinate emergency evacuation drills, participate in Emergency Response Teams and Site Safety Committee, and ensure compliance with the Emergency Action Plan.
Support incident investigations, track corrective/preventive actions, and contribute to the development and revision of EH&S procedures and programs.
Participate in ISO 14001/45001 audits, operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts), and maintain required certifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The Candidate
Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of relevant EH&S experience in a regulated industry (or) Associate degree with at least 2 years of relevant EHS experience in a regulated industry required.
OSHA 40-hour General Industry Certificate or MESH Certification may substitute for 1 year of experience.
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry and Hands-on experience with hazardous materials or waste in roles such as Large Quantity Generator (LQG); Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF); Field Services; HAZMAT responder or similar is preferred.
Solid understanding of OSHA General Industry standards and familiarity with hazardous waste management protocols, including DOT/RCRA regulations
Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and FDA/industry standards
Demonstrated ability to be a creative and proactive contributor and a strong focus on continuous improvement and safety culture enhancement
Must be able to safely move filled 55-gallon drums, manipulate objects, and perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Requires certification to operate powered industrial trucks and possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license.
Involves working with hazardous chemicals and wearing a respirator for safety. Employment is contingent upon passing a medical evaluation conducted by an external vendor to ensure respirator compatibility.
