In this highly visible role, the Plant Controller leads the Financial/Accounting function for the BD MMS Parata operations. The controller is responsible for maintaining accounting and reporting procedures resulting in accurate product costs, provides operations performance reporting, ensures product inventory and manufacturing assets are adequately safeguarded, and owns financial reporting for this plant. The controller frequently collaborates with Parata functions (FP&A, R&D, GCS, etc.). In this role, the controller drives change, as needed, to ensure compliance with GAAP and BD financial policies, reviews and delivers recommendations for continuous improvement, and clearly communicates relevant fiscal information to executive management.

This is an on-site role with the opportunity to travel and support other plants as needed.
The controller will be responsible for all financial activities associated with the US based MMS Manufacturing Plant and report to the Associate Director – Operations Finance with dotted line to the Parata Plant Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities

Leads all planning, reporting, and analysis of standard product costing, manufacturing variances, inventory and its component parts. Including:
Leads the annual budget and forecast processes, including development of standard costs
Maintains fixed assets
Ensures reserves are calculated appropriately
Ensures manufacturing performance is accurately reported
Strategically partners with the Plant Manager and Plant Leadership to optimize finance related operational decisions, ensures appropriate financial/accounting rigor, introduces process improvements and discipline as needed, and safeguards company assets.
Drives continuous financial improvement through preparation/review of business cases, inventory analysis, new product and discontinuance analysis, and spending analysis.
Ensures that financial reports and records are prepared in compliance with US GAAP and BD financial policies.
Ensures that financial controls are understood and maintained, makes changes/enhances where required.
Assists both internal and external auditors with their periodic review of the plant financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.
Coach and develop talent(s).
Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Flexibility to travel to support other plants and locations as needed.
Required Skills/Experience:
Five years of relevant progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment including standard costing, manufacturing variances & inventory control, financial analysis, accounting, and budgeting & forecasting experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- A CPA, MBA, or CMA is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated successful business partnering at a senior level.
Proven ability to collaborate and build rapport with all partners and influence within all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.
Demonstrated ability to improve processes and controls and influence decisions through accounting knowledge and data driven financial analysis.
Strong general accounting and standard costing knowledge
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUPS, etc.)
Relevant ERP experience. Knowledge of Great Plains and BPC preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well with management of all levels and disciplines.
Self-driven, proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
Independent thinker with strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
