National Account Manager (NAM) – Retail Pharmacy – East
The National Account Manager reports to the Director of Retail. This field-based role is responsible for leading Bavarian Nordic’s strategic partnerships with major retail pharmacy chains across the United States. This individual will drive commercial success and public health impact by expanding access to Bavarian Nordic’s travel and specialty vaccines through innovative retail programs, strategic contracting, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
This position is ideal for a strategic, relationship-driven commercial leader with a deep understanding of the U.S. retail pharmacy market and a passion for vaccine access and public health.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic business plans for major retail accounts, including CVS Health, Walgreens, Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, Rite Aid, and other regional chains
- Negotiate and manage national supply, pricing, and distribution agreements in alignment with BN’s commercial goals and compliance requirements
- Partner with category management and retail leadership to optimize vaccine portfolio inclusion and seasonal planning
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful product launches, promotions, and retail initiatives
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between Bavarian Nordic and retail pharmacy corporate leadership
- Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships that drive shared value, vaccination growth, and portfolio visibility
- Conduct quarterly business reviews to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and strengthen partnerships
- Work with wholesaler partners (McKesson, Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen) to ensure efficient product availability and fulfillment
Market Development & Program Implementation
- Lead initiatives that support retail implementation of travel health programs, including pharmacist education, digital scheduling integration, and patient awareness campaigns
- Monitor competitive activity, reimbursement trends, and public health priorities to inform strategy and execution
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing and Medical Affairs to develop and deliver educational programs that support pharmacists and travelers
Performance Management & Reporting
- Achieve sales, revenue, and distribution targets for assigned national accounts
- Maintain accurate CRM reporting and provide data-driven insights to leadership
- Collaborate with Forecasting and Supply Chain teams to ensure accurate demand planning and inventory optimization
Industry Engagement
- Represent Bavarian Nordic at national pharmacy and immunization conferences (e.g., NACDS TSE, APhA, NASP, NCPA)
- Support initiatives that align retail partners with public health and travel medicine organizations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA preferred
- 8+ years of experience in national account management or key account sales within pharmaceuticals or vaccines
- Demonstrated success managing relationships with major retail pharmacy chains or national distributors
- Deep understanding of vaccine commercialization, reimbursement, and the retail pharmacy ecosystem
- Strong strategic, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 30–40% domestically

Salary Range - $140k - $220k
Location: US Remote – East Coast
