We are looking for a Global Category Buyer Surfactants to join our Global Procurement team.

Where the chemistry happens...

Global Direct and Logistics Procurement (GPD) oversees the strategic procurement of raw materials and logistics services for the BASF Group worldwide. Within this framework, Direct Procurement Americas (GPD/N) manages the procurement of raw materials for BASF sites across the Americas. This includes over 100 regionally managed categories such as power, sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, amines, and plastic additives. The team also optimizes the procurement of raw materials via distribution partners and negotiates contract manufacturing agreements.

We are seeking a professional like you who is passionate about Procurement and enjoys both strategic and tactical execution and negotiation. You will lead negotiations for various raw materials, ensuring a competitive advantage for BASF. You will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers in an effort to align supplier capabilities with BASF strategic priorities and explore creative and strategic supply solutions. You will also support the implementation of global category strategies. In addition, you will provide regional input related to supply and demand market dynamics for the development of the global category strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your high degree of entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and business value creation know-how. You will also get to share your ability to manage relationships with internal partners and suppliers, with a proven track record of delivering results. Although not required, any experience you may have in leading cross-functional and cross-business unit teams, exposure to strategy development, and industrial manufacturing environments will be advantageous in this role.

  • Providing relationship management for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.
  • Conducting market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry-relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.

If you...
