We help farmers deliver the best possible outcomes, working to achieve the balance between economic, environmental and social value creation for sustainable and efficient agriculture.

The Trait Technology Specialist (TTS) is a field-facing technical expert responsible for enabling the successful commercialization of BASF trait technologies—beginning with Nemasphere—through high-impact knowledge transfer, agronomic support, and data-driven technical storytelling. This role facilitates cascading trait education throughout the channel, ensuring licensees and their teams are equipped with the insights and tools needed to confidently position and steward BASF traits.

As a Trait Technology Specialist - Midwest US - Western Cornbelt, you create chemistry by...

  • Designing, implementing, and managing trait demonstration trials (e.g., side-by-sides, vision plots) to validate product performance and generate localized proof points.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting agronomic data to support trait positioning and technical storytelling.
  • Facilitating “train-the-trainer” initiatives and cascading trait knowledge across licensee organizations.
  • Delivering technical training to agronomy and sales teams, ensuring deep understanding of trait performance, stewardship, and differentiation.
  • Serving as a trusted technical advisor to licensees, providing agronomic guidance and troubleshooting support.
  • Ensuring stewardship protocols are understood and implemented across all licensee activities.
  • Partnering closely with Licensing Strategic Account Managers to align technical support with commercial goals.
  • Providing feedback to the Trait Technical Lead and internal teams on field performance, customer needs, and emerging opportunities.

If you...

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field; MS preferred.
  • Have 10+ years of experience in agronomic technical support, seed/trait field roles, or related functions.
  • Have a strong understanding of corn and soybean production systems and trait technologies.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Are experienced in field trial design, data collection, and agronomic analysis.
  • Are skilled in data-driven storytelling and translating insights into customer value.
  • Have familiarity with adult education principles and effective knowledge transfer strategies.
  • Posses strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with external partners.
  • Are willing to travel regionally up to 75% of the time.
