We are looking for a Research Biologist to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC.

This role is for a Research Biologist to support with insect and plant production, bioassay development, and the performance of bioassays (including data analysis and presentation to peers). The job will include maintenance of insect and plant colonies and the use of those insects and plants to design, improve, and perform bioassays with the goal of contributing to research projects related to plant trait discovery and development. The role will include collection of data, analysis of data, and presentation of data/results to peers within the science team (RTP, Ghent, perhaps Germany periodically).
As a Research Biologist, you create chemistry by...
- Performing pre-established bioassays with plants and insects as requested by project teams.
- Gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to project team.
- Creating new and/or modifying existing bioassays with plants and insects and submitting results to project teams.
- Preparing standard lab materials/tasks – plant media, insect diets, containers, cleaning, etc.
- Maintaining clean, safe, and healthy lab environment.
- Facilitating production of healthy, pathogen free plants and insects such that plant and insect production meets or exceeds needs of project teams.
If you...
- Have a Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Horticulture, Entomology, or similar field directly applicable to plant/insect area.
- Possess experience performing bioassays and producing plants and/or insects in a laboratory setting is required.
- Have additional experience in greenhouse work, plant tissue culture, plant pollination, and/or insect rearing is valuable.
- Possess laboratory bioassay experience, working with plants and insects, gathering and presenting data/results, commitment to workplace safety.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Are familiar with excel database, statistics.
- Are comfortable working and handling live insects.
- Able to safely move boxes/bags weighing up to 50lbs.
- Possess a valid drivers license.
