Position Summary
Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor and/or Inventory Lead, the Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing assigned inventories through daily, weekly, monthly, and annual physical counts. The Inventory Specialist organizes and partners in conducting periodic inventory counts, adjusts quantities and locations, records and reports discrepancies to management while maintaining communication with supported internal customers. Will be the leader in ensuring frequent inventory reconciliation between the warehouse WMS system and ERP system.
Job Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, execute, and lead shipping and receiving of time-sensitive, temperature-sensitive shipments
Ensure materials are delivered from proper vendors, received into inventory, and finished goods, packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner
Review and oversee timely receipt of all materials to ensure proper processing of purchase orders and the quality of materials received meets company standards
Ensure the security, accuracy and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control
Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped according to marketing schedule
Understand and follow operational methods and procedures
Maintain documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities
Maintain business relationships with customers and suppliers
Verify incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as logistics documents
Process paperwork for import/export of countries
Prepare and process shipping related bills and invoices
Compare freight charges and arrange transportation
Obtain rates, shipping schedules, and vessel space
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma or GED with 4 years of related experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency to complete tasks on time
Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and your internal customers
Basic computer skills i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
5-10% travel required (local warehouse and lab sites)
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Prior experience managing inventory
SAP or WMS experience
