Position Summary
The Inventory Clerk / Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, movement, issuance, and control of materials throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports production, quality, shipping, receiving, and purchasing by maintaining inventory accuracy, executing ERP transactions, and ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
The Inventory Clerk / Material Handler plays a critical role in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with Aptyx quality standards and inventory control procedures. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Inventory Control
- Receive raw materials, components, and finished goods into inventory following established procedures.
- Process all inventory transactions accurately and timely within the ERP system.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper receiving, issuing, transfers, adjustments, and reconciliation activities.
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Participate in physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Return excess materials from production and accurately restock inventory.
- Maintain complete inventory traceability and lot control where required.
Material Handling & Production Support
- Pick, stage, and issue materials to manufacturing work orders in accordance with production schedules.
- Move materials safely between warehouse, stockroom, and production areas while maintaining inventory integrity.
- Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Support production by responding to material shortages and priority requests.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, packaging, and warehouse activities as needed.
Warehouse Operations
- Organize and maintain stockroom and warehouse locations to maximize efficiency and material flow.
- Maintain accurate labeling and identification of inventory locations.
- Ensure warehouse areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
- Maintain proper storage conditions to protect inventory from damage or contamination.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow all Aptyx Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, work instructions, and applicable training requirements.
- Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures, material traceability requirements, and documentation standards.
- Maintain accurate records to support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, or nonconforming product in accordance with company procedures.
- Support continuous compliance with ISO and customer quality requirements.
ERP & Documentation
- Complete all ERP transactions accurately and in real time.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and supporting documentation.
- Verify transaction accuracy before processing inventory movements.
- Assist with inventory reporting and data collection as requested.
- Support Purchasing, Planning, and Operations by providing accurate inventory information.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, and material flow.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve inventory control.
- Support implementation of new inventory processes and best practices.
Safety & Teamwork
- Follow all company safety policies and warehouse safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with Production, Purchasing, Planning, Quality, Shipping, and Receiving teams.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other warehouse and operations functions as business needs require.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 2+ years of inventory control, warehouse, material handling, or logistics experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience working within an ERP/MRP system (Epicor experience preferred).
- Experience with cycle counting, physical inventories, inventory reconciliation, and inventory transactions.
- Experience supporting production operations through material staging and work order fulfillment.
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.

- Regularly stand and walk throughout the workday.
- Frequently use hands, arms, and fingers to handle materials and operate warehouse equipment.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift materials exceeding 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical lifting equipment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and work in warehouse and production environments.
- Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment (forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification).
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish labels and inventory markings.
